Rivers United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Clinton Andy Ezekiel on a one-year contract from Bayelsa United, Boldsports report.
The move sees one of Nigeria’s promising young goalkeepers remain in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) despite Bayelsa United’s relegation at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Ezekiel was a regular presence for Bayelsa United throughout the season and continued to impress even as the club struggled to retain its top-flight status. He ended the campaign on a positive note by helping the Prosperity Boys record a convincing 4-0 victory over Kwara United on the final matchday of the 2025/26 NPFL season. Although the emphatic win was not enough to prevent relegation, the goalkeeper’s performances throughout the season enhanced his reputation as one of the league’s emerging talents.
The 20-year-old began his rise through Hope of Glory FC before breaking into the NPFL with Bayelsa United. He has also earned recognition at international level after being involved with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, underlining his potential for further growth.

Rivers United will hope Ezekiel’s arrival brings added quality and competition to their goalkeeping unit as they prepare for the new season. His shot-stopping ability, composure under pressure and experience at both club and youth international level make him an attractive addition to the squad.
The one-year deal offers the goalkeeper an opportunity to continue his development with one of the NPFL’s established clubs while aiming to help Rivers United compete strongly in domestic competitions.
