Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have qualified for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted in Indonesia after beating Uganda 1-0 in the quarter final of the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Ibrahim Juma’s own goal in the 30th minute was enough to see Nigeria qualify for the semi-finals where they’ll face either The Gambia or South Sudan who are billed to clash in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Nigeria, seven time champions of the U-20 AFCON will be making their 13th appearance at the U-20 World Cup. Senegal had earlier booked a spot at the World Cup having recorded a 1-0 quarter final victory over Benin.
Four African teams who reach the semi-final stage qualify automatically for the World Cup. Either Gambia, South Sudan, Congo or Tunisia will book the final slot for the U-20 World Cup billed to hold from May 20 to June 11, 2023.
