Nigeria’s national U-17 female team, the Flamingos have arrived India ahead of the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup billed to hold from October 11 to 30.
The Flamingos in Group B will face Germany in their opening game of the competition on Tuesday, October 11 before playing New Zealand on Friday October 14 while their final group game comes up against Chile on Monday, October 17.
Prior to their arrival in India, the team had a 10-day training camp in Turkey where they defeated Galatasaray 3-1 in a test game before losing 3-1 to Patricia George’s Fenerbahce on October 4.
The team’s arrival in India was confirmed by the Super Falcons Twitter handle, “Hello India! Our sisters, Flamingos have arrived Goa for #U17WWC after a five-hour stopover in Mumbai, India. Players and officials have since settled down at Grand Hyyat Hotel. Let’s go for glory!”
Flamingoes who are making a return to the competition after missing out on the 2018 edition in Uruguay will be hoping to go past their best finish in the competition which is a quarter final placement in Trinidad and Tobago (2010), Azerbaijan (2012) and Costa Rica in 2014.
