Italian Serie A side, Fiorentina have confirmed the contract extension of defender Michael Kayode until June 30, 2028.
Born in Italy in 2024, Kayode is another player of Nigerian descent who has distinguished himself since the start of the season. The extension of the contract of the 19-year-old would ward off advances from other Serie A teams and clubs from across Europe.

The club in a statement confirming the extension said, “ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce that Michael Kayode has extended his contract with the club until 30 June 2028.
“After playing a key role in the Primavera ranks in recent years as part of the side that won the Coppa Italia once and Primavera Super Cup twice, the defender was crowned a European champion in the summer 2023 with Italy’s U19s. Kayode already has eight first-team appearances to his name so far this campaign in Serie A and the Conference League.” the club said in an official statement.
Although Kayode had featured for the Italian team at youth levels, he is eligible to represent Nigeria, his parents’ birth country. Kayode has made eight appearances for the Biola this season in all competitions (six in Serie A and two in UEFA Europa Conference League.
