Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are stepping up efforts to sign Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman from Atalanta before the January transfer window closes, with negotiations already underway between the player’s camp and the Istanbul club.
According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, talks are ongoing among all parties, with Lookman open to the idea of moving to Fenerbahçe, although key details still need to be resolved before an agreement can be reached.
From Atalanta’s perspective, the Serie A side are understood to be focused on securing a deal that satisfies them financially before allowing the Nigerian international to leave. Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba has reported that Fenerbahçe are prepared to table a €30 million offer for Lookman, or propose a loan deal with a mandatory option to buy.

However, that figure is below the valuation Atalanta demanded last summer when Lookman requested to leave the club in pursuit of a move to Inter Milan. During that window, Atalanta reportedly held out for around €40 million, even after Lookman had agreed personal terms with Inter. It remains unclear whether the Bergamo-based club have softened their stance since then.
Despite the gap in valuation, further reports indicate that Fenerbahçe are seriously pushing to complete the deal and are willing to make Lookman a major part of their project. The club have reportedly offered the 28-year-old a salary worth three times what he currently earns at Atalanta, while Fenerbahçe executives are said to be in Italy to drive negotiations forward.
Lookman’s current season form has been far from ideal by his standards, having registered three goals and two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta.

That return stands in contrast to his impressive international performances, where he recorded three goals and four assists in six matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), finishing the tournament with the highest goal contributions and earning a place in the Team of the Tournament.
Fenerbahçe’s urgency to sign Lookman is driven by their ambitions this season. The Yellow Canaries are currently second in the Turkish Super Lig with 43 points, sitting just three points behind leaders Galatasaray. They are also competing in the Europa League and will be targeting a playoff place on Thursday.
With the window nearing its end, securing a player of Lookman’s quality could prove decisive for Fenerbahçe as they push for success both domestically and in Europe under Domenico Tedesco.
