Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi continued his impressive start to the season, scoring his fourth goal of the campaign to help Viktoria Plzen secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Karvina at the Doosan Aréna on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.

Plzen came into the clash full of confidence following their 5-0 demolition of Mlada Boleslav in their previous outing, while Karvina arrived desperate to bounce back after managing just one win in their last three games.

The hosts suffered an early blow when Karel Spacil picked up an injury and was replaced by Svetozar Markovic, but they quickly regained their rhythm and were rewarded soon after.

Durosinmi pounced on a goalkeeping error from Jakub Lapes and calmly slotted home to give Plzen the lead midway through the first half. Despite several more chances, the Nigerian’s strike was the only goal before the break.

Despite going behind, Karvina emerged stronger after the restart and eventually found their equaliser in the 69th minute when 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder Emmanuel Ayaosi, set up Rok Storman to make it 1-1.

However, Ayaosi’s evening took a sour turn in the closing stages as he brought down Merchas Doski inside the box, conceding a penalty. Matej Vydra stepped up and converted the resulting spot kick confidently to restore Plzen’s lead and secure all three points in dramatic style.

The result lifts Viktoria Plzen to fourth place in the league standings with 11 points from six games, while Karvina drop to seventh with nine points after their third defeat in four games.
