Rap superstar Drake has placed a bet of $500,000 on Israel Adesanya to retain his UFC middleweight title against American contender Sean Strickland at UFC 293 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Adesanya will defend his title for the first time against Strickland after regaining the title from arch-rival Alex Pereira in April via a second-round knockout (punches).
Strickland is heading into the fight off the back of two consecutive wins against Nassourdine Imavov and Abusupiyan Magomedov and will be hoping to upset the champion.
Adesanya is, however, favourite to win the fight, a situation Drake has decided to jump on. At odds of 1.84, Drake could win as much as $920,000 in one of his bets.
Back in April, Drake won a whopping $2.7 million dollars after betting on Adesanya to earn a win over Pereira. He placed $400,000 on the Nigerian to win via knock with an expected return of $1.84m while he placed another $500,000 on Adesanya to win the fight with a winning return of $885,000.
Drake is not new to betting on fights having won and lost bests on his favourite stars on a number of cases.
