Côte d’Ivoire take on Algeria in a crucial TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 quarter-final on Saturday. The match starts at 18:00 local time at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
The winner will reach the semi-finals and secure automatic qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027. For Algeria, the prize is even bigger. A victory would secure their first-ever World Cup appearance.
N’Sira Ouedraogo has played a major role in Côte d’Ivoire’s progress. She has scored twice and supplied three assists at the tournament. The forward has also recorded a goal involvement in all three group matches.
Ouedraogo scored in the 2-1 win over Tanzania. She also produced a goal and assisted once in the opening 4-1 victory against Burkina Faso. Her recent output gives Côte d’Ivoire a key attacking threat against Algeria.
Akissi Konan has also scored twice at this tournament. Her goal against Tanzania helped seal the Group B victory. Another goal would make her the first Ivorian player to score in three matches at one WAFCON.
Côte d’Ivoire finished top of Group B without losing. They beat Burkina Faso 4-1 and Tanzania 2-0. They also drew 2-2 with South Africa.
Algeria arrive with six points from the group stage. They won two matches at the same edition for the first time.
Marine Dafeur has scored twice in Morocco. She found the net in Algeria’s first and third group matches. Another goal would make her the first Algerian player to score three times at one WAFCON.
Algeria have also conceded only once across their last seven WAFCON matches. They kept six clean sheets during that run. Their only defeat came against Morocco in the group stage.
Lynda Bendris scored her first WAFCON goal against Kenya. Algeria also completed 326 passes in that match. Dafeur led the team with 46 completed passes.
Côte d’Ivoire have reached the knockout stage for the second time. Their previous appearance came in 2014. They also qualified for the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Algeria have reached the knockout rounds for a second straight edition. Their previous quarter-final ended 0-0 against Ghana in 2024. Ghana eventually won the penalty shoot-out 4-2.
This will be the first WAFCON meeting between Côte d’Ivoire and Algeria. Algeria have faced West African opposition 10 times at the tournament.
A win would give Côte d’Ivoire another World Cup qualification. For Algeria, it would create history.
