Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made two changes to his starting lineup for Nigeria’s crucial CAF World Cup playoff final against DR Congo, Bold Sports reports.
Benjamin Fredrick, who impressed at centre-back in the semifinal win over Gabon, has been shifted to right-back in place of Bright Osayi-Samuel, while Semi Ajayi returns to the heart of defence to partner Calvin Bassey.
Zaidu Sanusi maintains his role at left-back, with Stanley Nwabali continuing between the sticks.
In midfield, Brentford’s Frank Onyeka joins captain Wilfred Ndidi, who was cleared by CAF to feature in the final despite his yellow card against the Panthers. Alex Iwobi, who earned his 90th Super Eagles cap against Gabon, also keeps his spot in the middle.
Up front, Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman remain on the wings, with Victor Osimhen once again leading the attack following his extra-time heroics in the semifinal. Akor Adams, despite scoring against Gabon, drops to the bench for the final.
The crucial encounter is set to kick off by 8pm Nigerian time at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah.
