Former France international Bafétimbi Gomis has revealed that he recommended Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal during the last transfer window.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Bafetimbi Gomis explained that he was the one who initially suggested Osimhen to the Saudi club, who were instantly keen on signing the Nigerian forward. However, Osimhen turned down several approaches before eventually rejoining Galatasaray.
The 40-year-old, a Galatasaray legend with 51 goals in 86 appearances, revealed that he stepped back from the negotiations once he realised the Turkish champions were serious about bringing Osimhen back to Istanbul.
“Since I did not think Galatasaray would sign Osimhen, I offered him to Al Hilal. They were convinced after some research. But when I saw that Galatasaray were willing and confident about keeping Osimhen, I backed out,” Gomis said.

Osimhen was among the most sought-after strikers in the world during the summer transfer window, with links to Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, and several other top European clubs.
Despite struggling with fitness issues and missing a month through injury, the Nigeria international has scored three goals in five appearances across all competitions, including the decisive strike in Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Premier League champions Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen will now be aiming to repay Galatasaray’s faith in him by not only helping them secure domestic silverware but also pushing for success on the continental stage.
