Arsenal star Saka visits orphanage in Lagos

While other players are taking a well deserved rest in the Bahamas or the Maldives after a long football season, Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka, has been spotted in the Somolu area of Lagos visiting an orphanage. 

The England International who is born to Nigerian parents of Yoruba ethnic extraction arrive the West African country on Wednesday on a charity visit.

Saka on Thursday was spotted in Somolu dressed in an all-white traditional senator attire while visiting the Bales of Mercy Orphanage, set up to cater for the needs of abandoned and destitute children around Lagos. Saka has been involved in charity work in Nigeria despite choosing to play for the Nigerian national team. 

He also paid a visit to the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Lagos. In November 2022, the Arsenal star funded the operations of 120 kids in Kano State in conjunction with youth charity BigShoe.

Saka’s presence in Lagos has attracted attention and excitement from fans, who greeted him with chants and sought to capture a picture with the prominent Arsenal star. The 21-year-old shared his experiences on social media, posting a video of himself walking the streets of Lagos and expressing gratitude for the warm welcome in Yoruba, the local language.

“Ẹ kúulé o (greeting in Yoruba)!, Thank you for the warm welcome.”
