Ola Aina has been named in the Italian Serie A Team of The Week on his first start for Torino after his return from a four month injury layoff alongside Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen.
Aina was in the starting lineup for Torino against Udinese in their 1-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday. Coincidentally, Aina’s last start for lI Toro was against Udinese where he scored his only goal of the season.
The defender missed eight straight games due to a biceps femoris muscle injury but returned in a cameo against Empoli in a 2-2 draw. The 26-year-old provided the assist for Yann Karamoh’s 49th minute goal which proved to be the winner.
Aina’s compatriot Osimhen was also listed in the Team of the Week on the back of his impressive performance in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Spezia. The in-form Super Eagles star scored a brace to help Napoli go 13 points clear of second placed Inter Milan. The brace took Osimhen’s goals tally of the season to 16 in 17 league games.
Bologna’s Łukasz Skorupski was in goal after his impressive display in his side’s 2-1 away win at Fiorentina. In a 4-4-2 formation, Aina was joined in defence by Juventus’ Filip Kostić in left-back while AS Roma’s Roger Ibañez and Lecce’s Federico Baschirotto featured as centre-backs.
Lecce duo Gabriel Strefezza and Morten Hjulmand as well as Napoli duo André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia complete the midfield quartet while Osimhen is joined by Monza’s Andrea Petagna in attack.
