Africa’s best player, Victor Osimhen, was the toast of all as the Super Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over Cameroon to qualify for the quarter-final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations on Saturday.

While Ademola Lookman was the man of the match, after scoring both goals, Osimhen was the heart of the team, giving in best, including setting up Lookman for the first goal.

Among Osimhen’s admirers after the superlative performance against the Indomitable Lions were former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh and ex-Ghana international Asamoah Gyan.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the two African football legend praised the Napoli goal king for turning up for the game.

Gyan whose country was knocked out of the competition in the group staged, hailed Osimhen’s passion.

He wrote, “Osimhen plays with passion. That’s what every country wants their players to do.”

Oliseh who was also part of the Eagles 1994 AFCON-winning side was full of praises for the Nigeria No. 9, for contributing to every aspect of the team.

“Osimhen na player abeg , Chei!! E no be African player of the year for nothing.. 45 minutes to go my people,” Oliseh wrote at half time.
