Sanwo-Olu hails Super Eagles AFCON win over Cameroon

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, erupted in excitement after the Super Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over Cameroon, cruising into the quarter-finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. Ademola Lookman’s double, one in each half, at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday night, sent the nation into a frenzy.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who watched the game with friends and key cabinet members, took to his social media platform (formerly Twitter) to hail the team’s resilience and defensive prowess. “I enjoyed the Super Eagles’ incredible display of teamwork and determination tonight against Cameroon,” he said.

The governor, who hosted a pre-tournament dinner party for the players in Lagos, expressed his unwavering support and wished them the best in their upcoming quarter-final clash against Angola. “Onto the quarterfinals! Let’s carry this momentum forward, Super Eagles. Best of luck in the next round, and may our journey in AFCON2023 continue to shine bright.”

Nigeria now faces Angola, who emerged victorious after defeating Namibia 3-0 in their round of 16 encounter on Friday, February 2nd. The nation awaits with bated breath, hoping the Super Eagles’ wings will continue to soar, carrying them towards the coveted trophy.
