Ademola Lookman’s form inspired by Jay Z, good diet

Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman,  has attributed his current form to the many things he’s had to change in the last couple of months including diet, sleeping habits and watching inspirational videos of successful people such as rap icon, Jay Z.

Lookman arrived in Italy in the summer of 2022 after completing a €9m transfer from RB Leipzig having spent the 2021/22 season at Leicester City where he had a successful spell scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 42 games across all competitions, a performance that has been dwarfed by what he has been able to achieve in Atalanta in just six months.

The Nigeria international has found the back of the net 13 times in 19 appearances in all competitions with 11 goals coming in the Serie A in 18 games.

The 25-year-old in an interview with The Times has attributed his current impressive form to a change in a lot of things such as diet, sleep patterns

“I’ve started eating a lot of plain foods like white pasta, like more fish. That’s my diet. No sauce. Some vegetables. Sleep’s very important, trying to get in eight hours,” Lookman told The Times.

“My routine is a lot different to what it was. Everything’s focused on helping me perform. I watch interviews with people who are doing well in life like Jay-Z, someone at the top of the world who I can learn from. Jay-Z has come from basically nothing and is now a billionaire. That takes more than desire and guts, it takes execution and a plan, direction and confidence.”

Lookman has also started taking Italian classes so as to help him understand the gaffer better and learn from his wealth of experience.

“I understand what he says when he talks slowly but when he’s talking very fast it’s hard for me. But I’m picking up Italian pretty good.

“(Gasperini) is intense, a strong man, a top coach. He always wants us to attack, he loves seeing goals. But there’s a structure: he wants us to build through the thirds.”
