Despite their 129-117 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday at the Chase Center, D’Tigers forward, Precious Achiuwa, recorded a double-double for the Toronto Raptors, continuing his fine form for the franchise.
Achiuwa recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 36 minutes on the court. The 23-year-old earned more time in the game after an injury to OG Anunoby. Anunoby fell awkwardly on his left hand when attempting a layup injuring his wrist in the process.
Achiuwa, who has scored 10+ points in nine of his last 10 games, has averaged 9.5 points per game, 5.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game this season.
With the wrist injury to Anunoby, Achiuwa would once again be handed more time on the court against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center on Sunday.
At the FXT Arena, Gabe Vincent helped the Miami Heat to a 110-105 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday morning. Vincent in 19 minutes from the bench totalled 11 points and added one rebound and one assist to the victory.
It is the third consecutive win for the Heat and their sixth-straight home win and Vincent says the victory was down to the team’s defensive abilities.
“Defence I think, we got stops down the stretch and got guys to the right spots who made plays,” D’Tigers captain said after the game.
“We have to protect our home, dominate our home, go on the road and win some games. We’re trying to do a run right now and winning at home would be key.”
