AC Milan and Real Betis could make a move for Christantus Uche this summer transfer window as the 23-year-old faces an uncertain future after a disappointing end to his loan spell at Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Uche joined the Eagles from Getafe at the start of the 2025/26 season, and made his first start in December, scoring in a 3-0 Conference League win over Shelbourne.

One week later, the forward scored again in a 2-2 draw with KuPS, a stunning strike which was voted the UEFA Europa Conference League Fans’ Goal of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign.

Despite Uche’s improving form, Crystal Palace added some new faces in attack during the January transfer window, bringing in Brennan Johnson, Evann Guessand and Jørgen Strand Larsen.

Due to the new signings, Christantus Uche was removed from Crystal Palace’s Conference League squad, while the game-time he saw in the Premier League got increasingly limited.

Up until the end of the season, Uche played only seven games across all competitions in 2026, with just one start in the FA Cup against Macclesfield.

In May, the player revealed in an interview that his lack of game-time was due to head coach Oliver Glasner disliking him. However, the Austrian tactician responded in a press conference, insisting that his decision was nothing personal.

Glasner has since left Crystal Palace after leading the club to a historic Conference League triumph. But, Uche’s future remains unresolved.

According to a source close to the player, in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa.com, Uche remains focused and is already looking ahead to the next chapter of his career.

“It is unfortunate what happened during his loan spell at Palace because I believe he was not given enough opportunity to show what he can do,” the source said. “I spoke with him yesterday, and he told me everything is now in the past. He is looking forward to better things in the future.”

On the next step for Uche, the source revealed: “If you remember, there were a few clubs that wanted to sign him last year, but Uche always wanted to play in the Premier League, so he chose the Palace option. AC Milan wanted him at the time and Wolves were also interested, but he picked Palace and it did not work out. I believe Milan could return for him because they still rate him highly.”

“There is also another club in Spain, I think it is Real Betis, that are looking at him, but I do not think Getafe will be willing to sell him to another Spanish side,” the source added

With the summer transfer window still in its early stages, the player’s camp believes a move remains highly possible.

“There is still a long way to go before the transfer window closes, but Uche probably has a 70 percent chance of being sold to another club. Getafe need the money and the player wants a fresh challenge. We just have to wait and see how it all plays out.”
