Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare delivered a remarkable performance as Ajax demolished FC Midtjylland 6-1 in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday, Bold sports reports.
The 25-year-old continued his impressive goalscoring run after finding the net twice and providing an assist at the MCH Arena. He had also scored the winner against AZ Alkmaar in Ajax’s 1-0 Eredivisie victory on October 31. That goal took his tally to 10 in 15 appearances. His latest performance has now increased his contribution to 12 goals and four assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
Arokodare leads Ajax’s attacking display
Ajax needed just nine minutes to take the lead. Arokodare opened the scoring after meeting Oscar Gloukh’s delivery inside the penalty area.
However, Midtjylland responded in the 28th minute. Fellow Nigerian forward Friday Etim raced towards goal, rounded goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and calmly finished to restore parity.
The contest changed before half-time when Midtjylland midfielder Kjell Wätjen received his second yellow card in the 43rd minute. His dismissal left the Danish side with 10 players.
Ajax immediately took advantage after the restart.

Arokodare restored the visitors’ advantage seven minutes into the second half. The Nigerian used his physical strength to hold off his marker before finishing Abdellah Ouazane’s delivery.
He then turned provider in the 59th minute. The striker set up Owen Wijndal, who finished to extend Ajax’s advantage to 3-1.
Ajax complete emphatic victory
Ajax continued their dominance as the second half progressed.
Davy Klaassen scored in the 67th minute to make it 4-1. Oscar Gloukh added another seven minutes later, further extending the visitors’ advantage.
Marcos Leonardo completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, sealing an emphatic 6-1 victory for the Dutch giants.
The result highlighted Ajax’s attacking quality and their ability to exploit Midtjylland’s numerical disadvantage.
For Etim, his goal offered a positive individual contribution despite his team’s heavy defeat.
Arokodare strengthens his case for permanent Ajax move
Arokodare’s latest performance further strengthens his position at Ajax following his summer arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The agreement includes an option for Ajax to make his transfer permanent at the end of the season.
The Nigerian forward has already expressed his desire to remain in Amsterdam, describing his experience at the club positively.
His growing influence in attack will provide further encouragement to Ajax as they consider their options beyond the current campaign.
With 12 goals and four assists in 16 appearances, Arokodare continues to make a compelling case for a permanent stay.
