Blackburn Rovers could lose Ryan Alebiosu for Saturday’s Championship meeting with West Ham United. The Nigerian defender faces a fitness test after suffering an injury against Stoke City, Bold sports reports.
The 24-year-old had established himself as a regular starter under Tony Mowbray. He completed 90 minutes in Blackburn’s 2-0 victory over Wrexham on October 24. However, his involvement against Stoke ended after just 40 minutes. Blackburn eventually suffered a 2-1 home defeat.
Mowbray provides injury update
The Blackburn manager addressed Alebiosu’s condition during his pre-match press conference. His latest comments suggest the club must wait for further medical examinations.
Mowbray revealed that the right-back struggled to walk comfortably when he arrived for the team’s meeting.
“He came into the team meeting limping pretty heavily. I think he’ll probably have a scan. I don’t know; let’s wait to see it,” Mowbray said, as stated by Lancashire Telegraph.
The potential absence presents another concern for Blackburn. Alebiosu has offered consistency at right-back throughout the campaign. His defensive contribution and availability have made him an important member of the squad.

West Ham availability remains uncertain
Despite the worrying assessment, Mowbray has not completely dismissed the possibility of Alebiosu featuring this weekend.
The manager wants to establish the extent of the injury before making a decision. A positive medical assessment could give the Nigerian international an opportunity to feature.
However, the scan results will determine his immediate prospects.
“I don’t want to speculate; there’s every chance he could be out there on Saturday. But if the scan shows something specifically, he probably won’t be,” he added.
Blackburn welcome West Ham to Ewood Park on Saturday, November 7. The encounter offers another important Championship test for Mowbray’s side.
Alebiosu will now hope the injury proves less serious than initially feared. Meanwhile, Blackburn must prepare for the possibility of facing the Hammers without their regular right-back.
