The WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers final between Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Edo Queens is reportedly set for a restart from extra time after CAF upheld a protest lodged by the Ghanaian side.
According to Ghana Media Hub, CAF has annulled Edo Queens’ 4-1 penalty shootout victory after ruling that the final should have gone through the mandatory extra time required under Article 72.4 of the CAF Women’s Champions League Regulations.
Article 72.4 states that if the final is level after 90 minutes, two 15-minute periods of extra time must be played before penalties can be used to determine the winner if the scores remain level.
Ampem Darkoa based their protest on the decision to proceed directly to a penalty shootout after the match ended 2-2 in regulation time.

Ghana Media Hub further claims the final will now restart at 2-2, with both teams expected to play 15 minutes each way of extra time to determine the WAFU-B representative at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Edo Queens met Ampem Darkoa in the final of the 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament at the August 4 Stadium in Ouagadougou on Saturday, September 5.
The Ghanaian side made a fast start to the contest as Beline Nyarko opened the scoring after just two minutes.
Edo Queens responded almost immediately, with Doosuur Anastasia Atume restoring parity two minutes later. The Ghanaian side eventually regained the lead with 16 minutes remaining, as Nyarko completed her brace.
Edo Queens, however, refused to give up and found a late equaliser through Oluebube Umejiaku deep into stoppage time, forcing the final into a penalty shootout.
The Nigerian champions prevailed 4-1 from the spot, converting all four of their penalties while Ampem Darkoa scored only one of their three attempts.
The victory appeared to have secured Edo Queens a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League as the WAFU-B region’s representative.
However, if the report is confirmed, Edo Queens’ qualification will now depend on the outcome of the additional 30 minutes.
CAF and the two clubs have yet to officially confirm the reported decision.
