Zadok Yohanna marked his first unofficial appearance for Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday as Fabian Hürzeler’s side defeated AS Roma 3-0 in a pre-season friendly at the American Express Stadium, Bold Sports report.
The Nigerian winger entered the game from the bench and began his first taste of action in Brighton colours after his record-breaking summer transfer from AIK.
The teenager arrived in England after recording five goals and four assists in 18 senior appearances for AIK across all competitions. He also registered two goals and three assists in his first seven Allsvenskan appearances this season. That form helped make him one of Sweden’s most sought-after young players.
Brighton secured Yohanna after winning the race for his signature. The reported package stands at €28 million, with another €2 million available in performance-related bonuses. The deal made him the most expensive player ever sold by a Swedish club.
The 19-year-old signed a five-year contract. His agreement runs until June 2031.
Yohanna had attracted interest from several major European clubs. Brighton ultimately won the battle for the Nigerian prospect.
His debut also continues a rapid rise that began at Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria. He moved to Sweden in 2025 and quickly progressed into AIK’s senior setup.
Hürzeler used 21 players during the comfortable victory. Brighton controlled the contest and produced three goals against the Italian visitors.
Georginio Rutter opened the scoring in the 29th minute. He produced a superb finish from around 20 yards to give Brighton the lead.
Yasin Ayari then added two goals. The Swedish midfielder struck once before half-time and completed his brace after the interval.
For Yohanna, the result provided a memorable introduction to his new surroundings.
Yohanna’s first Brighton appearance now gives him another platform to continue that development.
