Bendel Insurance have completed the signing of striker Suraj Lawal on a one-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Boldsports report.

The Benin Arsenal confirmed the arrival of the 24-year-old through an announcement on their official Facebook page as they continue to strengthen their squad for the new campaign.

‎Lawal arrives after spending last season with Abia Warriors. The Lagos-born forward featured in 30 league matches and scored three goals. His experience in the NPFL adds another attacking option for Bendel Insurance as the club prepares for another competitive season. Before joining Abia Warriors, he played for Heartland, where he began his rise in Nigeria’s top flight.

‎The signing of Lawal follows Bendel Insurance’s recent acquisition of Nwokeji Chukwuemeka Godstime from Enyimba on a two-year deal. The latest addition underlines the club’s determination to improve on last season’s performance and compete for higher honours in the upcoming campaign.

‎Bendel Insurance ended the 2025/26 NPFL season in fifth place with 56 points. They finished just one point ahead of Abia Warriors, who claimed seventh place with 55 points, highlighting the fine margins that separated the two clubs in the league standings.

‎Announcing the transfer, Bendel Insurance wrote:

‎”A New Finisher Arrives

‎Let’s welcome Suraj Lawal to Bendel Insurance!

‎The energetic centre-forward joins us from Abia Warriors on a one-year contract.

‎We’re excited to have you with us, Suraj. Wishing you a successful journey in our colours.”

‎Lawal will now aim to make an immediate impact in Benin City as Bendel Insurance continue preparations for the 2026/27 NPFL season. The club will hope the striker’s experience in the Nigerian top flight strengthens their attacking options as they target another strong league campaign.
