Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a permanent move to Turkish club Bursaspor after choosing not to extend his stay with Celtic, Boldsports report.

‎The Super Eagles striker signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029 following the expiry of his Celtic deal on June 30.

‎The 29-year-old arrives as a free agent after ending his spell in Scotland. Although Celtic offered fresh terms after deciding against triggering the automatic one-year extension in his previous contract, Iheanacho opted for a new challenge in Turkey. Reports indicate Bursaspor’s improved financial offer played a key role in his decision.

‎Last season, Iheanacho made 24 appearances for Celtic and scored nine goals despite battling injuries. He netted five times in his final eight outings, including decisive goals against Motherwell, Dundee and Hibernian. He also found the net in Celtic’s 3-1 Scottish Cup final victory over Dunfermline Athletic as the club completed a domestic double by winning the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.

‎The Turkish club confirmed the signing on Friday, introducing the Nigerian international through a visually striking reveal on its official digital channels.

‎The transfer means the Nigerian international will now play in Turkey alongside fellow Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, who represents Galatasaray.

‎The move adds another chapter to Iheanacho’s career after previous spells with Manchester City, Leicester City, Sevilla and Celtic.

‎Bursaspor head into the new season with momentum after winning the 2025/26 TFF 2. Lig title to secure promotion to the TFF 1. Lig. The club produced several dominant performances during the campaign, before shifting attention to strengthening the squad for another promotion push.

‎Club officials believe Iheanacho’s experience at both club and international level will add quality and leadership as they target a return to the Turkish top flight.

‎For Celtic, the transfer represents a setback in their efforts to retain the striker. The Scottish champions must now continue their search for attacking reinforcements after failing to reach an agreement with the former Leicester City forward.
