…Olayinka Olajide hopes to improve her PB in final
Nigerian sprinters delivered impressive performances at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Texas, with Success Umukoro and Olayinka Olajide both securing spots in the women’s 60m final after strong showings in their respective heats.
Umukoro blazed to victory in her heat, clocking 7.31 seconds to automatically qualify for the final. She finished comfortably ahead of Kya Epps, who placed second in 7.39s, while Ashantai Bollers came through in third with a time of 7.47s.
Umukoro’s commanding run underlined her readiness to contend for a podium finish in the final.

In another heat, Olajide produced a standout performance, running a new Personal Best of 7.28 seconds to book her place in the final. She finished third in a highly competitive race won by Indya Mayberry in 7.17s, with her teammate Symoria Adkins taking second in 7.26s.
Olajide’s PB marks a significant milestone in her indoor campaign and positions her strongly heading into the final, where she will line up alongside some of the conference’s fastest athletes.
With both athletes advancing, anticipation is high as they prepare to compete for top honors at the championships.
