Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has suggested he could deploy both Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen when his side face Juventus in Wednesday’s first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 playoff.
Icardi was in sensational form in Friday’s 5-1 win over Eyupspor, scoring a hat-trick, while Osimhen contributed two assists – including one for the Argentine striker.
Despite ongoing debate among Turkish pundits over whether the two forwards can effectively start together, Buruk has occasionally fielded them at the same time, with encouraging results whenever they have shared the pitch.
Reflecting on their display, Buruk expressed his satisfaction and hinted that fans could see the duo paired more often moving forward.

“Icardi’s three goals, Osimhen’s two assists… there are many positive things. We played with two strikers,” Buruk said after the match.
“We used it in the Kocaelispor match, and people thought Osimhen and Icardi couldn’t play together. We tried it and got positive results,” he added, a remark that suggests both forwards could start against Juventus.
“We will prepare for Juventus. A very different match and a very strong opponent awaits us. We will recover mentally immediately and get ready,” Buruk concluded.
