‎There is encouraging news for Panathinaikos ahead of their upcoming fixture against Athlitiki Enosi Larissa, as forward Cyriel Dessers has resumed on-field activities following his recent injury setback.

‎The Nigerian international has begun light running drills as part of an individual recovery schedule, marking his first session on the grass since being sidelined during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The development signals steady progress after weeks of rehabilitation.

‎Dessers had travelled to the tournament as a member of Nigeria’s final squad but was unfortunate to suffer an injury in the build-up to the Super Eagles’ last group-stage match against Uganda.

The setback prevented him from featuring in the biennial competition despite being part of the travelling contingent. Upon sustaining the injury, the striker returned to Greece to focus fully on his rehabilitation programme.

The club confirmed via its official website that Dessers has now commenced on-field work for the first time since the injury, underlining a significant milestone in his comeback process.

‎Before the interruption to his season, the former Rangers attacker had made a positive impression after completing his summer move to Greece. In five league outings, he found the net twice and also contributed one assist, highlighting his early impact prior to being sidelined.

‎With his return to grass now confirmed, Panathinaikos will be hopeful that the Super Eagles forward can soon transition from light drills to full competitive action.
