Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen provided two assists as Galatasaray secured a comfortable 5-1 victory over Eyüpsor in their Super Lig clash on Friday, Bold Sports reports.

The Nigerian International, who has proven to be one of the most clinical finishers in the world, showed his creative side by setting up two goals, leading the champions to another victory as they extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.

The game was all but decided in the first half as Galatasaray struck twice within 33 minutes to build a comfortable lead, before Bedirhan Özyurt was sent off in the 38th minute, effectively ending the visitors’ hopes of a comeback.

Osimhen provided the assist for the first goal just two minutes in, playing a beautiful cross into the box for Yunus Akgün to head in. Icardi then doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 33rd minute, hitting a rebound from close range to make it 2-0.

The Argentinean striker got his second goal of the game and Galatasaray’s third three minutes into the second half, as Osimhen won the ball inside the box before feeding his strike partner, who found the back of the net with a clinical finish.

Galatasaray made it 4-0 in the 70th minute when Barış Alper Yılmaz delivered a dangerous ball into the box. Although Osimhen failed to make contact, Icardi latched onto the pass and calmly finished to complete his hat-trick.

Eyüpsor got a goal back through Metehan Altunbas in the 71st minute, making it 4-1. But at that point, the match was already done and dusted. An own goal from Jérome Onguéné in the dying minutes sealed the hosts’ 5-1 victory, extending their unbeaten run in the league to 10 matches.

With the result, Galatasaray now have 55 points in the league, keeping them six points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahçe who have an outstanding game against third-placed Trabzonspor on Saturday.

For Galatasaray, their attention will quickly turn to the UEFA Champions League as they host Italian giants Juventus in the first leg of their playoff clash on Tuesday.
