Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Nigerian duo Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are set to battle for the Golden Boot at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with semi-finals in sight.
Díaz currently leads the AFCON Golden Boot race with five goals in five matches, cementing his status as the tournament’s most prolific scorer so far.
The Real Madrid forward has found the net in every game, including Morocco’s 2–0 quarter-final victory over Cameroon, which secured the hosts a place in the semi-finals.

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen sits just one goal behind Díaz with four goals, following another influential display in the Super Eagles’ 2–0 quarter-final win over Algeria.
Osimhen opened the scoring early in the second half before providing the assist for Akor Adams’ goal, ending Algeria’s campaign and ruling them out of further contention in the Golden Boot race.
Egypt captain Mohamed Salah is also level on four goals after scoring in a thrilling 3–2 quarter-final victory over defending champions Ivory Coast, a result that booked Egypt a semi-final clash against Senegal.

A group of players are tied on three goals, including Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, Morocco’s Ayoub El Kaabi, Ivory Coast’s Amad Diallo, Mali’s Lassine Sinayoko, and Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
However, several of those challengers have already been eliminated from the competition. Mahrez’s hopes ended with Algeria’s quarter-final defeat to Nigeria, while Diallo exited alongside Ivory Coast following their loss to Egypt.

Sinayoko is also out of the race after Mali failed to progress beyond the quarter-final stage. With their teams eliminated, they are unable to add to their goal tallies.
With Nigeria set to face Morocco in the semi-finals and Egypt preparing to take on Senegal, the Golden Boot race remains wide open as AFCON 2025 enters its decisive phase.
