Morocco arrests 37-year-old over illegal AFCON 2025 ticket sales

Moroccan authorities in Agadir have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the illegal sale of match tickets for the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Bold Sports reports.

The arrest was carried out on Friday morning following a digital investigation that traced social media posts advertising match tickets outside official sales channels.

Security officials tracked the suspect and apprehended him near a local shopping centre in Agadir, Morocco. A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of several match tickets and a sum of cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal sales.

According to reports, the suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor, as authorities seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the operation and identify any possible accomplices.

Agadir, Morocco is one of the host cities for the tournament and the venue where record AFCON champions Egypt have been staging their group matches. The city also hosts Friday’s high-profile clash between Egypt and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
