Remo Stars’ struggles in the Nigeria Premier Football League continued on Saturday as they suffered a 3–1 defeat to Kwara United at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl in Ilorin.

It was the Sky Blue Stars’ first match since their humiliating 7–1 loss to South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League, and they had hoped to bounce back with a win in Ilorin.

However, the Afonja Warriors had other ideas. Junior Aimufua opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Babatunde Bright doubled the lead in the 75th minute. Aimufua then sealed his brace in the 87th minute to condemn Remo Stars to their fourth defeat of the season.

Remo have now lost four consecutive matches across all competitions – in the league and the CAF Champions League. With their continental campaign over, they currently sit 17th on the NPFL table.

The Ikenne-based side will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face Nasarawa United in a midweek fixture on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Bendel Insurance were held to a 1–1 draw by visiting Warri Wolves in an NPFL Matchday 11 encounter.

Alex Oweilayefa put the hosts ahead in the ninth minute, but their lead lasted only until the 41st minute when Othuke Egbo equalised for Wolves. Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half, but solid defending at both ends ensured they shared the spoils at full-time.

Despite being newcomers to the top flight, Warri Wolves remain one of the league’s most in-form teams. The result extends their unbeaten run to five matches – with three wins and two draws.

Wolves currently occupy second place on the NPFL log with 18 points from 11 matches, one point behind leaders Nasarawa United, who have two games in hand, and level on points with third-placed Abia Warriors, who have one game in hand.
