Nasarawa United will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face Rivers United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.
The league leaders suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ikorodu City in their last outing, bringing an end to their five-game winning streak and seven-match unbeaten run. The setback was only their second loss of the season, following their opening-day defeat to Niger Tornadoes.
Despite that result, the Solid Miners remain top of the NPFL table with 19 points from nine matches. However, they face a stern challenge against Rivers United, a side that has built a reputation for being formidable on home turf.
The Pride of Rivers, led by head coach Finidi George, have lost just once in five home games this season — that solitary defeat coming at the hands of Bayelsa United. They currently occupy 10th position on the log with 13 points from eight matches, six points adrift of Nasarawa United.

With both sides eager to prove a point, Rivers United will be seeking victory not only to bounce back from recent inconsistency but also to close the gap on the leaders as they aim to mount another title charge after finishing as runners-up last season.
In other NPFL fixtures on Sunday, Barau FC will host Wikki Tourists, Bayelsa United take on Plateau United, and El Kanemi Warriors welcome Enugu Rangers. Elsewhere, Enyimba will square off against Kano Pillars, Ikorodu City host Kun Khalifat, Niger Tornadoes face Abia Warriors, while Katsina United travel to Ibadan to tackle Shooting Stars.
