D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama has been named head coach of Hive Basketball Club ahead of their debut campaign in Season 2 of the Unrivaled Basketball League, Bold Sports reports.
Organisers of the women’s 3×3 basketball league announced the coaching lineup for the new season, which tips off in January 2026. Wakama will lead newcomers Hive BC, while former Seattle Storm coach Noelle Quinn has been named head coach of fellow debutants Breeze BC.
Wakama, who recently guided Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, D’Tigress, to their fifth consecutive FIBA Afrobasket title, also serves as an assistant coach with WNBA side Chicago Sky. She is expected to bring her wealth of experience and winning mentality to the newly established Hive franchise.

In a statement, Unrivaled General Manager Clare Duwelius praised the addition of elite coaching talent for the upcoming season.
“We’re thrilled to add such exceptional talent to our head coaching roster in our second season, elevating the strong foundation established by our inaugural coaching staffs across Unrivaled,” said Duwelius.
The league is expanding from six to eight teams for Season 2, with Hive BC and Breeze BC joining returning teams Laces BC, Lunar Owl BC, Rose BC, Phantom BC, Mist BC, and Vinyl BC — all of which competed in the inaugural season held in January 2025.
Some of the WNBA’s biggest stars are expected to feature in the new season, including Rickea Jackson, Kiki Iriafen, Arike Ogunbowale, Alyssa Thomas, Lexie Hull, Jackie Young, Sonia Citron, and Napheesa Collier, among others.
