Super Eagles fullback Felix Agu suffered an injury on Saturday afternoon during Werder Bremen’s 1-0 victory over St. Pauli in the Bundesliga, Bold Sports reports.
The 26-year-old, who was recently named in Nigeria’s squad for the October World Cup qualifiers, started his sixth league game of the season but was forced off late in the first half after he was fouled by Martijn Kaars. Agu attempted to continue but was eventually replaced by Isaac Schmidt just before the break.
Although the full extent of his injury is yet to be confirmed, the incident comes as another potential setback for Super yEagles head coach Eric Chelle, who has already been forced to make two changes to his initial 23-man squad. Zaidu Sanusi and Chrisantus Uche were earlier called up to replace Cyriel Dessers and Bright Osayi-Samuel, both ruled out through injury.

The injury is also a concern for Werder Bremen, despite their hard-fought home win secured by Samuel Mbangula’s early strike. The victory lifted Bremen to 11th place on the Bundesliga table with seven points.
Head coach Horst Steffen will be hoping Agu’s injury is not serious, with the team set to face FC Heidenheim after the international break as they look to build momentum and secure their third league win of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Agu’s fitness will be closely monitored by Nigeria ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying matches. The Super Eagles face Lesotho on October 10 before hosting Benin on October 14 — two fixtures that could prove vital to their qualification hopes for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
