Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide opened her goalscoring account for AS Roma Women on Sunday, inspiring the Italian side to a 3-0 victory over Sassuolo in the Serie A Women’s Cup, Bold Sports reports.

Babajide broke the deadlock in the 21st minute after Roma’s strong start, scoring to give her side the lead. Giada Greggi then doubled the advantage on the stroke of halftime, putting the Giallorosse firmly in control of the game.

Substitute Alayah Pilgrim sealed the win in the 88th minute, ensuring Roma’s perfect group-stage record — three wins in three matches, nine points, and top spot in Group C. The result booked their place in the semifinals of the inaugural competition, where they will be joined by Lazio, Inter Milan, and the best second-placed side.

Reacting to her first goal for the club, Babajide expressed her delight on social media, posting on her X account: “Proud moment to score my first goal for AS Roma Femminile and through to the Semi Finals. Thank you Lord for the victory.”

Despite the comfortable victory, Roma face little time to celebrate as attention quickly shifts to their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign. The Italian side must overturn a 2-1 deficit in their second-leg qualifier against Sporting.

Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, head coach Luca Rossettini said: “The girls believe in it. The look on their faces the day after the match was right, it was what I wanted to see. And today (Sunday) I feel like there’s already been a positive reaction.”
