Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will now work under former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou, with Nottingham Forest confirming the appointment of the Australian as their new head coach, Bold Sports reports.
This follows the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo, who spent two years at the club and guided Forest to European football for the first time in 30 years. Postecoglou is expected to bring a fresh approach and attacking philosophy to the team as they continue their evolution in the Premier League.
According to sources, the 60-year-old has agreed to a deal that runs until June 2027 and will take charge of training immediately ahead of his first game in the dugout — an away clash against Arsenal on Saturday.
Club owner Evangelos Marinakis expressed his delight at securing Postecoglou’s services, describing him as a coach with a “proven and consistent record of winning trophies.”
“We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies,” he said. “His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.”
“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies. Ange has the credentials and the track-record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.”

While Awoniyi is expected to begin working with Postecoglou immediately as he is not on international duty, Aina will link up with the new coach after featuring for the Super Eagles in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa on Tuesday evening.
