The highly anticipated heavyweight title eliminator between Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba and Cuba’s Frank Sanchez is officially headed to a purse bid on August 5, Bold Spors reports.

This development follows the failure of both camps to reach a direct agreement for the crucial IBF bout, setting the stage for a competitive bidding process to determine the fight’s promoter and location.

The clash marks a significant redemption opportunity for Ajagba, who suffered his sole professional loss at the hands of Frank Sanchez in 2021.

Now, Ajagba has a chance not only to avenge that defeat but also to clear a direct path to a world title shot against unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The stakes couldn’t be higher; the victor of this eliminator will be crowned the International Boxing Federation’s mandatory challenger.

However, with Usyk currently slated to face Joe Parker in a separate unification bout, the newly crowned mandatory challenger may face a considerable wait before getting their shot at the coveted world title.
