…Dessers eyes Scottish Premiership Golden Boot
Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers says he is proud to have reached the milestone of 50 goals for Glasgow Rangers but admits he’s slightly disappointed that his contributions haven’t translated into more silverware for himself or the club.
Dessers netted his 50th goal in the 73rd minute of Rangers’ 3-1 victory over Dundee on Wednesday in a Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox, marking the feat in his 108th appearance. In addition to his goals, he has provided 17 assists for the club.
This season alone, the Nigeria international has been in prolific form, scoring 28 goals and registering seven assists in 54 appearances across all competitions. He currently leads the scoring chart in the Scottish Premiership with 17 goals from 34 matches, including games from both the regular season and the Top Six Split.

Reacting to the milestone, Dessers expressed joy at his personal achievement but emphasized his desire to help bring more trophies to Ibrox.
“It’s a very special feeling to score 50 goals in two seasons,” Dessers told Daily Record per Yahoo Sports. “It makes me very proud to achieve this milestone for a big club like Rangers in the first place.
“To do it at Ibrox, in a game you win, was a very nice feeling. But it’s also very painful not to have the trophies to show for it.”

Since joining Rangers, Dessers has won just one trophy—the League Cup in December 2023. However, he remains optimistic that his performances will help drive the club to greater success.
“To score 50 goals, you’d hope to have something in your hands as well,” he added. “But this will only give me more fuel over the summer to work hard, go again, and never give up.
“You have to say, we’ve never given up. But we know we need to do better, and hopefully we can achieve that next year.”
