Yohanna is an 18-year-old sensation who plays with flair, dribbles effortlessly, never shies away from taking on defenders, constantly makes runs off the ball, and to top it all off, strikes the ball with real quality.
The Nigerian winger, currently with AIK in the Swedish league, has recently started turning heads following his goal and standout display in their 2-1 win over Halmstads BK on Sunday.
Inside the opening 20 minutes of that game, Yohanna had already rattled the crossbar twice, created several dangerous opportunities, and showcased his silky footwork, gliding through tight spaces and beating defenders in one-on-one situations. Those early moments alone were enough to show that anyone who loves football will enjoy watching him.
He eventually crowned his performance with a brilliant goal. EARLY CAREER AND MOVE ABROAD
Zadok Yohanna was born and raised in Bauchi, Nigeria. At just 12–13 years old, he made the bold decision to leave his family and relocate independently to Kabun, where he began his football journey with Ikon Allah Academy.
By 2025, Yohanna earned a move to AIK, signing a contract that runs until 31 December 2029. He made his debut for the Swedish side in August 2025 as a substitute, and just three days later, he was handed his first start, playing the full 90 minutes in an emphatic 7-0 victory.
On March 9, 2026, Yohanna announced himself further by scoring his first goals for AIK, netting a brace in a 4-0 win over BK Häcken. A few days later, he found the net again against GAIS, although AIK suffered a 3-2 defeat and were knocked out of the Swedish Cup.
Despite his young age, Yohanna carries big ambitions. After starting the new season with a goal, the 18-year-old has set his sights on winning the league title and claiming the top scorer award. He has also made it clear that playing in the UEFA Champions League remains a major dream.
“My focus is 100 percent on AIK. I don’t want to listen to other clubs interested in me. I have a long contract with AIK and the season is starting soon. I want to win the league with them and maybe win the top scorer’s award. I am still young and have a lot to learn,” Yohanna said in a recent interview with Aftonbladet.
“I want to play in the biggest leagues and in the Champions League. It is a dream for me. Football is everything to me. There is no other alternative, there is only football,” he added.
STYLE OF PLAY
According to AIK’s Head of scouting and recruitment Fredrik Wisur Hansen, Zadok Yohanna possesses an impressive range of qualities. Speaking after his signing in June 2025, Hansen highlighted his dribbling, close control, exceptional one-on-one ability, and his delicate left foot as standout attributes.
“He (Yohanna) has an impressive array of strengths, including his dribbling, close-range technique, outstanding one-on-one ability and a sensitive left foot,” Hansen said.
A naturally left-footed player, Yohanna primarily operates from the right wing, a role in which he excelled against Halmstads BK. However, his versatility also allows him to slot into an attacking midfield position when needed.
Yohanna plays with freedom and joy, always with a smile on his face. He is the kind of player fans are eager to watch. Against Halmstads, the youngster completed an impressive 10 dribbles, the highest by any player in the opening round of the Swedish league.
Despite his age, he is equally comfortable with the physical demands of the game. In that same match, Yohanna won a game-high 17 duels, while also contributing defensively with six recoveries, two interceptions, two clearances, and a tackle.
AREAS TO IMPROVE
While many see Zadok Yohanna as the next big thing, there is also a clear understanding that he still has areas to refine in order to reach his full potential. His decision-making in the final third, as well as the quality of his final shot or pass, can improve, and there is still room for growth in the physical side of his game.

With his level of talent, it feels inevitable that he will soon attract interest from clubs in Europe’s top leagues, and possibly even earn a call-up to the national team. However, staying grounded will be crucial, because talent alone is never enough to reach the very top.
