Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman will be aiming for victory when Atletico Madrid take on Barcelona in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash at the Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday.
The Nigerian international has already played against the Catalan giants twice since joining Diego Simeone’s side in January, recording one win and one defeat.
His standout contribution came in Atletico’s emphatic 4-0 victory in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal tie, where he registered both a goal and an assist. However, he found it difficult to make a similar impact in the return fixture, which Barcelona won 3-0, and was an unused substitute in their most recent La Liga meeting, a 2-1 win for Hansi Flick’s team.

Overall, the two sides have already met four times this season, with Barcelona claiming three victories, underlining the scale of the challenge facing Atletico. Simeone’s men will be eager to turn the tide as they push for a place in the semifinals of Europe’s elite competition.
Since arriving from Atalanta, Lookman has quickly become a key figure in Atletico’s attack. The winger has recorded five goals and four assists in 14 appearances across all competitions, helping to sharpen the team’s cutting edge in the final third.
With a semifinal spot at stake, Lookman and Atletico will be determined to secure a positive result in Barcelona before the decisive second leg at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano next week.
