Alex Iwobi’s goal was not enough as Wolverhampton Wanderers trashed Fulham 4-1 at the Craven Cottage to get just their second league win in the Premier League this season.
Fulham Coach, Marco Silva, started Alex Iwobi on the right wing once again in his 12th league start of the season. He started alongside fellow Hale End Graduates, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson who were in the attacking midfield and the left wing respectively. Raul Jimenez started once again as the striker.
Fulham started brightly, controlling the game and pressing the opponents in their half, however, they were unable to create clear cut chances. The early pressure finally paid off in the 20th minute as Kenny Tete fed Alex Iwobi who moved inside with the ball and hit a beautiful curling shot beyond the reach of Jose Sa.
Just over 10 minutes after Iwobi’s goal, Mario Lemina sprayed a sublime long ball from his own half to pick the run of the in-form Matheus Cunha who calmly completed the move with a composed finish.
Just after the second half began, Matheus Cunha turned provider as he played a brilliant disguised through-pass for Joao Gomes to finish and make the score 2-1. Matheus Cunha made matters worse for Fulham as he put the game to bed in the 87th minute with an outrageous finish with his right foot from outside the box.
Goncalo Guedes came on to complete the trashing as he received the ball from Jorgen Strand Larsen and hit a powerful right footed shot that beat Bernd Leno into the bottom left corner.
Wolves are now up to 17th on the table with nine points in 12 games. Meanwhile, Fulham remain on 10th with 18 points in the same number of games.
The Cottagers go away to Tottenham in their next match as they aim to rediscover their winning form while Wolves host Bournemouth next in a bid to their four game unbeaten run.
