The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have made contact with William Osula regarding a potential switch in international allegiance to represent the Super Eagles, Bold Sports reports.

Osula, who currently plays for Newcastle United, was born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father. He has represented Denmark national under-21 football team at youth level, earning one cap for the U-19s before enjoying a productive spell with the U21s, where he scored eight goals in 15 appearances.

The 22-year-old received his first senior call-up to the Denmark national football team in March for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against North Macedonia and the Czech Republic. However, he did not make an appearance—opening the door for Nigeria to intensify its pursuit.

According to football journalist Farzam Abolhosseini, who shared the update on X, the NFF has already initiated contact with the forward.

“William Osula has been contacted by the Nigerian Football Federation through his background, who want the bomber from Newcastle to represent the African country instead of Denmark,” Abolhosseini wrote.

“He was selected for the Danish national team in March, but did not make his debut.”

Osula has previously expressed an affinity for Nigeria and the Super Eagles on social media. He has shared images of himself wearing retro Super Eagles jerseys and posted videos of himself preparing homemade Nigerian meals while hosting friends—subtle indications of a strong cultural connection that could influence his international future.
