Victor Osimhen commits to Napoli deal until 2026

The city of Naples erupts in joyous chants as their footballing hero, Victor Osimhen, inks a contract extension, pledging his allegiance to the Neapolitan giants until 2026.

The Nigerian striker, adored for his explosive pace and predatory finishing, silenced speculation of a Premier League move, opting to continue his meteoric rise in the vibrant blue jersey.

Osimhen’s journey with Napoli has been a fairytale. Arriving in 2020 with raw talent and boundless potential, he blossomed under the tutelage of Luciano Spalletti, transforming into a world-class attacker. His 26 goals and 6 assists propelled Napoli to their first Scudetto in over 30 years, etching his name in club folklore.

The 24-year-old was courted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with English giants Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal said to be circling. However, Osimhen opted to stay put.

The new contract reportedly includes a heavy increase in salary and a hefty release clause, deterring potential suitors and signifying Napoli’s determination to build their future around Osimhen.

Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda has described the contract extension process as a marathon also stating avoiding questions over future transfers.

“This was a marathon, a long process, but we reached the finish line,” Calenda told Sky Sport Italia. “The renewal satisfies everyone, because we all wanted to continue this story that reached a peak last season with the Scudetto victory.

“Victor and his teammates inspired the team and gave the fans great joy. Both parties wanted to continue this adventure together.”

Osimhen’s release clause is rumoured to be around €120m, however, Calendared has opted not to speak about it.

“I would not go too far into the details,” replied the agent. “Let us leave room for what happened, and that is the renewal which both the player and club wanted. Let us leave the details to the paperwork.”
