Umar Sadiq set to return in April

Real Sociedad and Nigeria striker, Umar Sadiq, could return to action after the international break in April, according to reports in Spain.

Sadiq is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in a La Liga match against Getafe last September. The Nigeria international has stepped up his recovery and is hopeful of playing a part in Sociedad’s Champions League qualification chasing season.

The 26-year-old who is currently undergoing rehabilitation in an interview with DAZN in January stated that he is hoping to return to training sometime in February. He hopes to get back to full fitness sometime in March.

The international break is set to come between March 20 to 28 and the club’s first game after the break will be against Villarreal on April 2 and the Nigerian will be hoping to play a part in the team’s success this season.

Before his injury, the lanky forward had found the back of the net three times in five LaLiga appearances. In his absence,Alexander Sørloth has been able to stand in the gap scoring nine goals in 18 appearances while Brais Mendez has grabbed seven goals in 21 appearances.

Sociedad are currently third in the LaLiga with 43 points from 22 games, two points ahead of Atletico Madrid in fourth. The Txuri-Urdinak would be hoping to end the season with a Champions League ticket and the Nigerian would be hoping to help them achieve this.
