Nigeria striker, Umar Sadiq, scored on his Spanish LaLiga debut for new club Real Sociedad as they held Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the Reale Arena.
The 25-year-old who joined Sociedad on a €16.2m deal on Wednesday took just 10 minutes to introduce himself to the home faithfuls scoring the equaliser for Sociedad in the 55th minute having replaced Alexander Sorloth at half time to cancel out Alvaro Morata opener in the fifth minute of the encounter.
Sadiq has been touted by a host of LaLiga clubs including Villarreal, Valencia as well as some English Premier League clubs, however, the 6ft 4in lanky striker opted to stay in the Spanish League.
The goal takes his tally of the season to three having previously scored against Elche and Sevilla in the colours of newly promoted Almeria. He becomes La liga third top scorer after Robert Lewandowski with five goals (Barcelona), Iago Aspas five goals (Celta Vigo) and Borja Iglesias with four goals (Real Betis).
Sadiq will be hoping to continue his impressive start to the season when they travel to face Manchester United in their opening game of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday at Old Trafford.
