Tolu Arokodare wants to help Genk win league

KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare says he’s excited to have returned to action for the club but he’s more excited to be available for the Jupiler Pro League Championships Playoffs billed to start on April 30 with Genk opening their account against club Brugge.

“Glad to be back, focused on the playoffs,” the striker wrote on Twitter.

Arokodare who joined the Belgians from French side Amiens as replacement for Paul Onuachu who left for English Premier League side Southampton suffered a torn meniscus injury in his side’s 3-0 win over KV Oostende on February 25. He was only in action for 12 minutes before the injury and was replaced by Mbwana Samatta.

The 22-year-old missed six league games before making a cameo appearance in their final game of the regular season against Sporting Charleroi which ended 2-2 over the weekend.

The Nigerian has scored one goal while providing an assist in five games for Genk who finished top of the table during the regular season. They are only ahead of second placed Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on goal difference.

Arokodare will be hoping to return to the starting line-up during the playoffs and spur his side to their first Jupiler League win since the 2018/2019 league season.
