Three Belgian clubs fight over Akor Adams

Top Belgian sides Club Brugge, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, and KRC Genk are battling for the signature of Nigerian striker Akor Adams who has been termed the ‘next Gift Orban’ as a result of his impressive performance for Norwegian side Lillestrom in the ongoing 2022/23 league season.

The Nigerian has been in prolific form for Lillestrom finding the back of the net 12 times in 13 appearances, while he also boasts of a perfect mark of scoring 10 times in his last 10 league appearances for the side who currently sit fifth on the Norwegian league log.

Brugge, Union, and Genk will be hoping to cash in on another Nigerian striker plying his trade in Norway on the back of the successes recorded by Gift Orban at Gent despite playing just half the season and Victor Boniface with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Boniface and Orban joined from Norwegian sides Bodø/Glimt and Stabæk and have taken the Belgian Jupiler League by storm in their first seasons respectively. Boniface scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 55 games across all competitions for Union Saint-Gilloise. At the same time, prolific Orban who only joined Gent in January found the back of the net 20 times in 22 appearances including scoring three hat-tricks.

The Belgian teams would be hoping that Adams will turn out the same way as his predecessors who joined from Norwegian clubs. According to reports, the striker is valued at about €3m but the price could go higher due to high demand for his services.

Lillestrom will also be hoping to cash in on the striker who has just one year left on his current contract. The Belgian teams will hope to get the job done before top European sides with more money get wind of his exploits.
