Nigerian youngster Taiwo Maamun Alao has completed his move to Brazilian giants Atlético Mineiro, beginning a new chapter in his football career after signing a three-year contract with the club.

‎The 18-year-old attacker arrives in Brazil after developing through Sporting Lagos and spending the 2025/26 season with Ikorodu City.

‎Atlético Mineiro had already reached an agreement with Alao earlier in the year. The deal became official after the Nigerian turned 18, allowing the final transfer process to move forward.

‎The Nigerian operates as an attacking midfielder and can also play from the wide areas. Atlético plan to introduce him gradually as he adapts to Brazilian football.

‎Alao began his development with Sporting Lagos before moving to Ikorodu City on loan. His seven appearances for the Lagos-based side gave him his first taste of senior football.

‎His move also continues Atlético Mineiro’s growing interest in young African talent.

‎Alao’s immediate task will be adapting to a new country, language and football environment. Atlético will hope his development in the Under-20 side can eventually lead to opportunities with the senior team.

‎The move gives the Nigerian youngster a fresh platform to develop in Brazil while Atlético Mineiro continues to invest in emerging talent from Africa.
