The away jersey of the Super Falcons has been rated among the best of the teams competing at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The Athletic released the rating for the away kit for the teams competing at the Women’s World Cup which starts tomorrow.
After giving the Falcons home jersey a poor rating of 4, the US-based website gave its away jersey the highest available score or 9/10.
The website called the Falcons away jersey “an absolute smash”.
“The Nigeria home kit is a bit of an eyesore, almost in a literal sense given that it’s in a green so bright you can see them wearing it in Australia from where this piece is being written in London.
“The away, on the other hand, is an all-timer. A colour combination of a dark green background along with what looks like Tetris blocks (but are actually apparently “stair-inspired graphic patterns representing the team’s rise on the global stage”) in a subtle variety of red and green colours, which are inspired by Yoruba fabrics. It’s an absolute smash,” the website wrote.
Other teams that got a 9/10 rating got their away jersey are: Argentina, England, Germany, Jamaica, South Africa and Spain.
The Super Falcons are in Group B with co-hosts Australia, Canada and Republic of Ireland.
They play their opening game on Friday against Canada before slugging it out against Australia on July 27. Their final group game will be against Republic of Ireland on July 31.
