Several Super Eagles players have resumed training with their respective clubs following Nigeria’s impressive performances in the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, Bold Sports reports.
The Super Eagles kept their qualification hopes alive after back-to-back victories, edging Lesotho 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane before thrashing Benin Republic 4-0 to climb to second place in Group C.
The results propelled Nigeria to fourth among the best second-placed teams in the African qualifiers, earning them a spot in the playoffs where they are set to face Gabon. In the other playoff fixture, DR Congo will square off against Cameroon, with the winners of both ties meeting in a final showdown for a place in the Intercontinental playoffs.

Wilfred Ndidi, who captained Nigeria in the emphatic win over Benin Republic, has since returned to training with Turkish giants Beşiktaş and is expected to feature in their league clash against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday.
At Fulham, the trio of Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Samuel Chukwueze have also reported back to the club and took part in light fitness sessions ahead of the Cottagers’ Premier League meeting with Arsenal this weekend.
Meanwhile, Akor Adams who marked his senior national team debut with a goal against Lesotho has rejoined training with Sevilla as he looks to continue his fine form at club level.

However, concerns remain over Zaidu Sanusi and Victor Osimhen, both of whom were substituted due to injury issues during the Benin clash. Their availability for Porto and Galatasaray, respectively, remains uncertain pending further medical assessments.
