Success scores first Serie A goal in one year

Isaac Success has scored his first Italian Serie A goal of the 2022/23 season after 1,953 minutes of action and 29 games as Uninese thrashed relegation threatened Cremonese 3-0 at the Dacia Arena on Sunday.

The former Watford forward scored the third goal of the game for the Friulani in the 36th minute as they cruised to their 10th win of the season over the hapless Cremonese who have further sunk into relegation waters.

Midfielder Lazar Samardzic had given the hosts the lead in the second minute of the game while defender Nehuen Perez made it 2-0 in the 27th minute.

Success’ last Serie A goal was scored against Bologna in a 2-2 draw on April 24, 2022.

It was however a game of mixed feelings for the Nigerian who had to be taken off in the 42nd minute due to a muscle problem in his right thigh.

Despite his lack of goals, Success has provided six assists in 30 games. He’s been a regular player for the side only missing the game against Bologna earlier this month due to illness. He was handed a contract extension in March.

Success would be hoping to return from the injury in good time to help his side continue their push for a place in Europe at the end of the season.

His compatriot Kingsley Ehizibue was in action for 84 minutes coming off for another player of Nigerian descent Festy Ebosele while Iyenoma Destiny Udogie was on for the entire duration of the game.

Cyriel Dessers was in action for Cremonese for 60 minutes but failed to help them earn a favourable result. He made way for Giacomo Quagliata. His compatriot David Okereke came on for Michele Castagnetti in the 46th minute while another player of Nigerian descent Emanuel Aiwu replaced Leonardo Sernicola in the 46th minute.
